Our MD Bryan Hindle spent time with Adept Consulting Engineers of Pudsey last week.
Continuing Professional Development for structural engineers
The visit was part of Adepts dedicated continuing professional development series and the subject was “Structural repairs to masonry – a practical guide”.
Our team have been helping consultant structural engineers stay current with the latest in remedial wall tie work and structural repairs for years. However, in the past 18 months we have upgraded our presentations to include many of the complex and innovative specialist repairs we’ve completed, using real on-site defects and solutions to teach others about this fascinating subject.
The Helifix repair system and the Cintec Grouted Anchor system are well known, but only active specialist contractors, approved by Cintec and Helifix and using the systems on a weekly basis, have real in-depth knowledge of how useful and flexible these repair methods are in practice.
The CPD presentation included details of how Helifix and Cintec methods are used by us on a wide variety of projects, which were explained in detail, showing how unstable buildings had been saved from demolition and strengthened, often using Helifix and Cintec systems in tandem, on the same contract. This is one of our unique strengths; being both approved Helifix Installers and Cintec approved contractors, we give structural engineers another advantage when looking at practical solutions for structural repair of buildings.
Real wall tie and structural solutions on all buildings – old, new, large and small.
Recent works on Armley Jail Leeds, using stainless steel Cintec anchors pre-tensioned to 25Kn were discussed. The use of Helifix slip ties on recent expansion joint installations in Leeds and the Helibeam and Helifix Retro Tie work on a modern office block were talked through. York City walls, Riber Castle near Matlock and York University projects also featured, as did examples from many domestic situations, such as a repair for a collapsed house wall in Horsforth, caused by wall tie failure.
Bryan had a vast array of stitching anchors and ties of all types to hand around the nine delegates. The presentation finished with a short question and answer section and all delegates received a CPD Certificate for their own training records.
We are working throughout Yorkshire on contracts where old and new buildings need wall tie installation or complex structural repairs – every day of the week. This experience is available for our clients and for Architect’s, Structural Engineers or Building Surveyors who need up to date proven expertise.
CPD presentations on structural repairs and wall tie replacement are free to building environment professionals in Yorkshire. Call our helpful office team for details.
