As members of The Property Care Association, Brick-Tie are subject to regular quality auditing.
This week saw a visit to our Sherburn in Elmet unit by Peter Macdonald CSRT CSSW. Peter is responsible for checking on the quality standards of PCA members across the north.
The audit covered most areas of our operation including, insurance, customer complaint proceedures, damp and timber survey report standards and compliance with Health & Safety and Employment regulations. Peter has vast experience with over 30 years in the preservation field, having run a succesful preservation company, before becoming an independent consultant, helping consumers, remedial manufacturers and the PCA with preservation issues.
We strive to improve and having someone with Peter’s knowledge, spending time with us, is a welcome chance to fine tune our business; our thanks go to Peter and The Property Care Association for the important feedback we get from quality audits.
Of course, with over sixty years of experience between them, Peter and our MD Bryan Hindle tend to get excited talking about the industry and eyes were rolled as they enthused about damp proofing methods, timber treatments, damp diagnosis, report writing and surveying techneques….you should have seen the pair, almost drooling over the softwood joist, almost destroyed by Death Watch Beetle, which Bryan brought back from a timber survey in Leeds last week*……they really should get a life!
*For those who are interested, Death Watch Beetle is usually found in hardwood beams like Oak. ‘Normal’ softwood joists are rarely attacked…..
