We’ve been Helifix approved for some years and we love their repair systems.
The Helifix range is the original and best quality helical bar; combined with Helifix’s superb engineering support, it brings an unrivalled structural solution – proven and credible.
A close relationship helps to make sure our customers get the best products and the best advice, when choosing remedial wall ties, masonry repair or lateral restraint systems.
Recognising this, we teamed up last week to present a detailed CPD Presentation (continuing professional development) for Harrogate Borough Council building surveyors, engineers and building control officers.Harrogate have a wide range of buildings of varying ages and of course they have structural and wall tie problems on occasion. We recently completed structural repairs to Harrogate crematorium using Helifix Helibars and natural lime pointing.
The presentation combined Helifix’s product expertise with Brick-Tie’s vast site experience, giving delegates a chance to gain valuable insight into these flexible, unobtrusive structural repairs. Our MD Bryan Hindle and Business development manager Sean Tristram-Jones were joined by Helifix’s James Plaskitt, so there was lots of expertise available.
The presentation was heavy on real case studies, drawn from our extensive catalogue of successful structural repair and Helibeam contracts, including listed buildings, York City Walls, York University & Riber Castle, as well as windmills, barns, mill buildings, houses and schools. Other repair methods were covered too, including Cintec grouted anchors on jobs across Yorkshire and the North of England
The pro’s and cons of each method were covered, with lots of questions fielded by the team.
Guests included Building Control officers, so Bryan used some real life cases from new-build sites, where in-built defects have led to the need for remedial wall ties. What to look out for and the best remedial solutions were demonstrated. The need for properly qualified wall tie technicians was stressed, as were site testing and quality monitoring methods.
Our thanks go to Harrogate Borough Council for the invite and James Plaskitt of Helifix, for his contribution.
The event was part of our educational outreach and is one of a few CPD sessions we can deliver to Architects, Engineers, Surveyors and other professionals in the built environment.
These include the following subjects:
